Two questions. Which group — a new one or one that already exists. Then who — from a list, or by choosing from members. Four combinations and one screen to learn, and the same preview at the end whichever way you came, because the preview is where splitting, the people WhatsApp will not let us add, and the people who asked to stop are all reported.

A stage group is not in the list above, and the stage is offered instead. “Adyar 7-Day” names two facts — which stage and which centre — so offering it to somebody at Pollachi would either move their centre or quietly put them in Pollachi 7-Day, which is not the group that was picked. The honest offer is the stage group at their own centre, and the way in is to record that they reached it.

That is the bulk stage change, and it shows the same preview: who moves, out of which group and into which, and who cannot be added to the new one.

Main groups are not in the list, and here is why

A centre’s main group is everyone at that centre. For their own centre everybody is in it already, so choosing it would do nothing; for anybody else it would be a claim that they had moved centre, which is a different fact and one nothing in this application writes. Leaving it out is the only honest option. Whether the main group should exist at all is still an open question in the specification.

The picker does not assume a centre

Groups above a centre are in this list on the same footing as the rest — Tamil Nadu Coordinators, Kongu District Coordinators, Coimbatore Region Volunteers. A group belongs to a place at any height of the tree, and who is in it is whoever was put there.

A volunteers group writes the volunteer flag

It is in the list, and it is the one consequence group that is, because marking somebody as volunteering is a fact this application does write. So it is said on the row, said again on the preview with the people it would be written for named, and only then written. Volunteering is a flag running alongside whatever stage somebody is at, and never a stage of its own.

Why taking over a group is not one of the two answers

Adopting a WhatsApp group from its invite link is creation by a third route — the people are already in a room and we are joining it — rather than a way of choosing who goes into a group we control. Folding it in here would make one of these two questions mean two different things. It has its own screen.
